90 companies that helped Russia evade restrictions to face EU sanctions

She said there was clear evidence that these companies had violated the sanctions already imposed.

"And that is why in the eleventh package of sanctions we have more than 90 companies around the world for which we have clear evidence that they are violating sanctions, that is, supplying sanctioned goods directly to Russia from the European Union via third countries," she said.

Von der Leyen said some of these companies that will be banned are registered in China.

"This does not mean that they are Chinese companies," the European Commission chief added.

“These are companies that exist partly on paper and have owners from other countries. But they are registered in China, and we will be clear here.”

The head of the Office of the President of Ukraine, Andriy Yermak, also commented on the new package of sanctions against the aggressor state.

"The decision of the European Union to impose sanctions against more than 90 non-Russian companies that helped Russia to circumvent sanctions can only be welcomed," he said.

“There will always be attempts by the enemy to circumvent sanctions, but the punishment for helping them in this should be severe.”
