The US Federal Police (FBI) is looking for war criminals in Ukraine together with the Ukrainian authorities and American companies. Geolocation and information obtained from soldiers’ phones are used to track down war criminals.

– The FBI has a lot of experience in collecting data and analyzing it, FBI special agent Alex Kobzanets said.

According to Kobzanets, Ukrainian authorities are collecting information digitally from battlefields and destroyed cities. The aim is to analyze this information in more detail with the help of American service providers.

The FBI has been working for the past year and a half in Ukraine to verify Russian collaborators and espionage in the country.

Cyber Security Director of Ukraine Illia Vitiuk stated that Russian cyber attacks have become more targeted in recent months.

According to Vitiuk, the challenge is to verify the individuals who are responsible for war crimes. Cybercrimes committed in war are also considered part of war crimes.

– We believe that cyberwar crimes are a new phenomenon. This is the first time that cyberwar is an integral part of warfare, Vitiuk stated.

The Russian administration has not commented on the matter.
