Russian Cyber Threat ‘Uptick’ Hits Companies Supporting Pentagon

Russian cyberattacks are increasingly targeting companies supporting the US defense industry, according to the National Security Agency.

Rob Joyce, director of NSA’s Cyber Directorate, said “especially the defense industrial base and the transportation logistic companies that are helping the US aid get into theater have seen an uptick over the course of the last year.”

Berserk Bear, a ransomware gang associated with Russia’s security service, “has a destructive mandate” and targeted Pentagon contractors, according to an April 2022 advisory from the nation’s cybersecurity agency.
