On the evening of the 7th, Prime Minister Kishida held a meeting with President Iohannis of Romania, a neighboring country of Ukraine.


He condemned Russia's military aggression and nuclear threats, and vowed to cooperate on sanctions against Russia and aid to Ukraine.

At the beginning of the meeting held at the Prime Minister's Official Residence, Prime Minister Kishida said, "In the wake of Russia's aggression against Ukraine, there is a need for greater solidarity in the international community, and I would like to confirm the deepening of cooperation."



The two leaders also condemned Russia's military aggression and threat of nuclear use, and confirmed that they would continue to cooperate on sanctions against Russia and assistance to Ukraine.



Furthermore, in order to make it easier to respond to common international challenges, we agreed to upgrade our bilateral relationship to a "strategic partnership" and to strengthen cooperation in a wide range of fields, including security, economics, and science and technology.



In a joint statement after the meeting, Prime Minister Kishida said, "As a strategic partner, I look forward to working together with Romania to further develop cooperative relations in a wide range of fields."
